Overview:

Known as the Australian pine, the casuarina is not a conifer nor is it related to the pines. This rustic and robust tree belongs to the casuarinaceae family.

They are plants for forestry and ornamental use, highly demanded for their great resistance to different types of climates and soils.

Casuarina wood is very hard and heavy with a specific weight of between 0.80 and 1.20 g/cm3 for air-dried wood and 0.61 g/cm3 for wood with a moisture content of 46 percent. It is exceptionally strong and tenacious.
